This is a Surf and Turf with a Maryland Old Bay seasoning touch. The broth that the shrimp will be sautéed in, is a recipe one of my best friends, who is a Maryland crab aficionado and chef, taught my wife and I many years ago. My friend, along with his wife, invited us down to the Chesapeake Bay to go sailing on his boat for a weekend. While on the boat he made the most delicious dinner of crabs and steak with his secret broth. I begged him to tell me what the ingredients were and he obliged.

If you ask me, this was the weekend I fell in love with my wife. The sailing, the food and friendship left a lasting impression on us. Over the many years, we have made the broth with shrimp, crab and lobster for house guests that visit us. It's always a hit! Our daughter Lexi, whom " Lou Bird's" (Lexi Lou and Little Bird are her nicknames) is named after, loves the dish! We hope you will enjoy this house specialty also.
